Summer Session 2010

Craft Kitchen Summer Program 2010

This summer we will be offering 3 different weeks of arts and crafts.
Each week will have it’s own theme, and we will be doing projects
based on those themes.  Everyday will offer the opportunity for each
child to be as creative as they want to be.  The children get a chance
to have playtime, reading, snack and create wonderful projects to
take home everyday.

Craft Camp Dates:
June 29 (Tues.) – July 1, 2010 (Thurs.)
July 6 (Tues.) - July 8, 2010 (Thurs.)
July 13 (Tues.) - July 15, 2010 (Thurs.)

Hours:
1:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Superstar - June 29th- July 1st, 2010
Want to be a star or hero?  This week is all about the inner superstar
in you.  You will be designing and silk-screening a super hero t-shirt,
drawing your own comic strip, paratrooper stuffies, and making rockets
that are perfect for the 4th of July.  You will also be working on
drawing skills each day.

County Fair - July 6th – July 8th, 2010
We will be bringing the fair to the kids.  Ever had a blue ribbon apple
pie?  This is your chance.  You will be making homemade cheese,
butter & apple pie.  You will also get to create a group of shadow
boxes and glue fun things into them that represent things at the fair.
Learning how to paint with watercolors.  Plus, you can’t go away
without your own blue ribbon that you will be able to make yourself.

Nature Lover - July 13th – July 15th, 2010
Want have your own personal piece of nature in your own room?  This
week will be packed with fun nature projects such as making your own
terrarium.  When you go on a hike with your family you’ll be able to
bring along your own handmade trail mix.  You will use nature to create
a print.  Make nature come to you by making your own bird feeder so
you can do your own bird watching from your window.  Get up close
and personal with nature while doing botanical drawings everyday.

SPACE IS LIMITED SO REGISTER EARLY!
Registration deadline is May 30th, 2010.

To Register:  Email

Tie Dye Easter Eggs

It is our last day of Craft Kitchen and Easter coming up on the weekend, so we had to dye eggs.  I mean it is a requisite to dye eggs for Easter.  This time we decided to try this new process where you dye the eggs with silk ties.  It is truly amazing, and super fun.  You have to use 100% silk ties, and the results can be very interesting.  though we did have a couple pieces amongst our mix that we believe were suspicious silks, and didn't turn out too well.  As you can see in the photos some were very colorful, and some were, well, a bit more abstract.  We also made little rabbits and chicks with pom poms and small baskets for them to ride in for our projects.  Some children got really creative with their easter animals.  It was a busy day, and I had hoped to be able to give every child a big hug before they left, because we truly enjoyed spending time with them every week.
